GUITAR & bass lessons -- FUN

Some music teachers are too rigid and strict. Teaching only the "proper" classical methods and effectively taking the fun out of music.
Others are too lenient. They'll show you how to play a piece of music without explaining how it works. It's like learning to paint by numbers!

Get the best of both worlds. We'll start with the fundamentals and (within reason) learn to play some of your favorite songs. Just bring a CD or I-pod. (tape and vinyl too!) My goal is to teach students to understand the instrument so that they can begin to learn songs by ear, improvise, and write music!

Lessons are 1-on-1 in a studio space at one of St. Louis' best live music venues, Off Broadway conveniently located near I-55 and Arsenal.
Private home lessons available as well.

Experienced players who want to improve your music theory, improvisation, songwriting, or technique, are encouraged to call. Let's see if I have what you're looking for.

All materials provided
Beginners welcome!

$25 per hour with discounts for monthly prepayment

Call or email for more info.

Established 4-piece band looking to re-establish female vocalist part. Group consists of veteran players from around the St. Louis area, most with college level music training and all are lead vocalists. Instrumentation includes Guitar, Keys, Drums and Bass with doubles on Sax, Trombone and Flute. Music selection includes Motown, 70's & 80's Dance favorites. Great PA & Lighting Gear, Rehearsal space in South County and Digital 16-track in-house recording. A demo CD is "in-the-can" with open track(s) available to plug in a new vocal track, if familiar with the particular material. Auditions at band-jobs preferred, but can be arranged for a rehearsal night. Shared responsibility for running the group available, but not expected. All income is claimed and even cuts are the norm.

GUITARISTS hear about MODES, and just want to play them-not theory

posted: October 27, 2009, 10:19 AM

Some guitar players just want to play modes NOW- not devote years to studing music theory. After learning music theory to the point of playing modes, I soon realized that there is a way to explain how to play all these modes in every key simply by counting frets. I developed this Modes Method in 1986, and have been using this approach in my lead playing ever since. I can show you how to play this way in just minutes. It’s OK, I know that you do nott believe me--but I can prove it to you. Play in:

LOCRIAN
DORIAN
PHRYGIAN
AEOLIAN
IONIAN
LYDIAN and
MIXOLYDIAN

No theory, no TAB, no memorizing note names in countless scales! You do nott even have to read music notation. I show you how to move my PRIMARY scale down or up the neck by counting frets in order to play each mode in all twelve keys. Only ten dollars, and I pay the shipping. Do not ignore this valuable offer- you may not be able to find it again! I will send part of it to you. Works for guitar and electric bass. Circumvent music theory. Open up an enormous vista to your playing. Write me! Not a scam- I can prove this.

http://www.modesmethod.mysite.com/cgi-bin/blog

From Modes Method users:
I have only spent 1 hour working on the system so far and i can see how this will help me!!!....Thanks Again Randy

THANK YOU for getting me out of the box. THIS is a turning point moment for me. I ll keep in touch --Tony

Hey man I have it and I am putting it to use. Had one of my jam buddies play A and Am then ran the minor pentatonic scale and I see what you mean about “add two notes”. I feel confident this is going to help me. So Dan, here you have it, - you told me so. Thanks again, Ron

Near Earth is a Christian band which is heavy on the beat. Looking for player for this area... guitar, bass, percussion, and horns.
Can a Christian band have soul... r&b, rock, and jazz-funk at the same time and bring a message of Jesus return? I am just the drummer who can set
this groove. I need the players to groove with. I need them right now...! If you can feed off the music and recycle it with something sharp I want you to
include your phone number. A.S.A.P.

EMAIL ME ... I WANT TO GET THIS BAND GOING. FIRST PROJECT & PLAYING OUT.
