Spire is seeking a Distribution System Controller to work in the St. Louis, MO location.
Duties and Responsibilities
:Safely and reliably operate the natural gas distribution system using available gas supplies, piping networks, peak:shaving facilities through a SCADA system
:Communicate gas supply requirements to the Gas Supply Department and to Gas Operations supervision
:Prepare and submit gas usage and other reports to various departments in the Company
:Responsible for monitoring, analyzing and responding to SCADA alarms and the recognition of unusual conditions that do not generate alarms while notifying appropriate responding personnel
:Coordinate appropriate and timely response to system emergencies including broken mains and other operational problems that could result in unsafe conditions and possible service outages
:Monitors odorant injection rates and gas measurement information, adjusts regulator set:points to maintain adequate pressure across the distribution system
:Coordinate with Field Operations personnel for routine and emergency shut down of distribution mains, installation of new mains, and installation, testing, and maintenance of equipment
:Coordinate and monitor operation of the Companys gas storage and propane vaporization facilities for peak:shaving requirements
:Coordinate and monitor highly volatile liquid product shipments to and from the propane cavern and to and from interconnecting pipelines
:Develop and maintain SCADA software applications
:Maintain records and analyze historical data for updating system operating criteria and gas usage forecasting
:Maintain safe operational practices as described in the Control Room Management Plan
:Receive and complete annual training relating associated with this position
:All other duties as assigned
Required Education: (may include certifications, licenses and registrations)
:High school diploma required
:Formal technical training with an Associates Degree or higher preferred
Required knowledge, skill and abilities:
:One to three years of applicable work experience in the natural gas or petroleum industry
:One to three years of computer experience with proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite software, especially Excel
:Prior experience using SCADA system software (preferably Proficy iFix) with the ability to program and troubleshoot computer problems preferred
:Knowledge of basic physics, chemistry, gas pressure regulators, gas flow measurement and related gas industry terminology
:Knowledge of the Companys pipeline interconnects, gas distribution systems, and the minimum, normal and maximum allowable operating pressures
:Knowledge of the HVL pipeline and safe operating procedures
:Ability to communicate effectively with others inside and outside of the Company
:Possess the ability to prioritize tasks
:Annual DOT Certification Testing
:Ability to read and work from engineering drawings and pipeline maps
:Ability to work/lead in an ethical and safe manner, and support the companys values
