POSITION SUMMARY

The Bookkeeper/Administrative Assistant is responsible for providing support to the Springboard to Learning Executive Director, Accountant and Springboard to Learning Team. This individual is well organized, detail oriented, self motivated, enthusiastic, able to multi-task, presenting a professional face to callers, visitors, and constituents. He/she uses knowledge of Springboard to Learning’s mission, policies, and operations to support the activities of the overall organization. The Bookkeeper/Administrative Assistant must be creative, communicative, collaborative and a critical thinker who enjoys working in a small mission-driven environment.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Processes and manages Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
• Processes payroll through Paychex.
• Records financial transactions in accordance to the organizations accounting policies and procedures.
• Assists Accountant in the analysis of the organizations finances and financial systems on a day-to-day basis, recommending improvements as required.
• Assists Accountant with monthly financial statements and annual audit preparation.
• Assists with preparation of annual budget.
• Performs bank reconciliations.
• Prepares monthly account reconciliations, including reconciliation of accrued expenses.
• Processes check payments and enters deposits using QuickBooks® accounting software.
• Processes online and credit card donations.
• Coordinates onboarding and off boarding of employees.
• Coordinates administration of employee benefits (health insurance, life insurance, Simple IRA), liability and workers’ compensation insurance and manages unemployment claims.
• Serves as the first point of contact with the organization, answering the phone and greeting clients.
• Provides administrative support to the executive director and office team members, as needed.
• Assists with office management.
• Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required. Associates Degree preferred
• Minimum of five years responsible accounting or bookkeeping experience including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger and financial reports; nonprofit experience a plus
• Proficient in QuickBooks®, Microsoft Office and Excel and familiar with database management
• Ability to perform several tasks concurrently with ease and professionalism
• Ability to operate calculator, computer, and other general office equipment
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements of processing payroll accounting transactions and payroll returns
• Must have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
• Analytical/Interpersonal Skills
• Strong attention to detail and follow-through skill

Physical Demands

• Ability to work eight hours a day in an office environment
