Duties and Responsibilities
:Provide significant input into the strategic planning process and long:term financial planning processes for Spire, its business units and emerging businesses.
:Prepare financial analyses, pro:forma financial statements, business cases and valuation models for existing businesses and potential new businesses and services.
:Play a significant role on M and A projects, participating to varying degrees in most phases of project and transaction work
:Prepare recommendations and make presentations for potential acquisitions, investments and other strategic initiatives, including new regulated and non:regulated businesses, to the senior management team.
:Refine analytical frameworks, models, tools, etc. to support Spires strategic planning and corporate development efforts, including:
:Conducting industry value chain, competitive and strategic analyses
:Preparing capital market and M and A market and transaction analyses
:Conducting high level and detailed analyses of targets
Essential Characteristics and Competencies
:Strategic thinking and knowledge of business and financial concepts, principles, and practices as they relate to the strategy planning and corporate development processes.
:Comfortable with abstract concepts and complex technical issues, and demonstrated intellectual curiosity regarding business drivers, business strategies and investment performance metrics.
:Ability and commitment to develop a thorough knowledge of the gas industry and Spire over time, including its various business units, assets, operations, and shared services support functions. This includes an ability to learn critical regulatory concepts and rules in multiple jurisdictions for utilities and at FERC for midstream businesses, and more generally, Spires financial accounting, cost allocation, and reporting practices and policies.
:Analytical mind and able to synthesize information from a variety of sources to help identify market trends and opportunities, understand strategic risks and opportunities, help develop and evaluate potential acquisitions and new business investments.
:Proven track record of persistence, sound judgement, and ability to work effectively within a dynamic work setting.
:Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills and ability to help create persuasive presentations for the Leadership Council, Board of Directors or other audiences.
