Job Description First Bank is actively looking for a Tax Accountant III, in this role you are responsible for assisting with the preparation of direct and indirect tax returns, tax provisions, estimated tax payments and extension calculations with minimal supervision. This position is responsible for the review of fixed assets and depreciation calculations for financial statements and tax filings. This position performs tax planning under direct supervision. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Key functions related to federal, state and local compliance and planning: Primarily responsible for the preparation of returns. Assist in the preparation of monthly / quarterly tax provisions. Assist in the tax workpaper preparation processes, including federal, state, state apportionment and tax estimates and extensions. Responsible for the remittance of tax payments to respective tax authorities. Assist in the gathering of documents for examinations. Research topics as directed. Key functions related to indirect taxes Responsible for the preparation of indirect tax filings, including but not limited to use tax. Provide necessary support and helpful direction for indirect taxation to multiple Company departments. Assist in the gathering of documents for state indirect tax audits. Prepare workpapers for use in the determination and remittance of federal and state back-up withholding. Assist in the preparation of state and local registrations / licenses. Key functions related to Asset Management Review of the accounting, federal and state establishment of fixed assets. Review of the supporting electronic documentation for all assets. Supervisory Responsibilities Currently there are no supervisory responsibilities. The future might provide for the direct supervision of employees in the Corporate Tax Department. We are seeking talented individuals with the following qualifications: Bachelor's degree (BS) in accounting or finance required. At least three years tax experience with a public accounting firm or four years experience in corporate tax required. Strong proficiency in Word and Excel required. Understanding of general tax and financial accounting, as well as tax and financial reporting required. Experience with OneSource and PeopleSoft preferred.
